Hege Hermansen is a Professor of Education at the Centre for the Study of Professions at Oslo Metropolitan University. 

Her research interests include 

i) knowledge work in the professions and professional education (incl. the relations between professional knowledge, the societal mandate of the professions, and autonomy). 

ii) organisation of higher education (incl. program development and program leadership, institutional perspectives on education, and the juridification of higher education), and 

iii) the foundational values of universities (incl. academic freedom and the societal responsbility of universities). 

Hermansen teaches within the fields of theories of the professions, teaching and learning in higher education, teacher education, research supervision, and PhD courses in education. 

Hermansen is an editorial board member of Professions and Professionalism.
